I Always Come Back to Art

I am an artist, who like many, stepped away from making art to try to make a living. But after several years, I found myself yearning to start creating again. I started painting seriously about a couple of years ago while working full time. I produced a large amount of work during that time on nights and weekends. Ultimately, I realized the dream of opening my own gallery and workshop. It's been challenging and very rewarding so far and I look forward to going to "work" everyday!
I work in a variety of mediums because I find I have a fairly short attention span. I know they say one should pick a medium and master it, but that doesn't really work for me! I like doing different things from day to day. It keeps me fresh and happy to be doing whatever medium is talking to me at any particular time.
I paint in oils, acrylics and melted crayons. I draw in graphite, charcoal and colored pencils. I quilt, crochet and sew. I have a passion for making jewelry as well. (I suck at scrapbooking though, never could get into it.) What you see on this website is a small sampling of my work. There is much more at my gallery.
I have two degrees, neither of which is art. Go figure. I did attend a local university to pursue a degree in art, but found it wasn't for me. I've taken a few workshops here and there and would love to find the time to attend a few more.
I've been married to the same wonderful guy for the past 19 years and have raised two young men who make me incredibly proud.
